Caravan Awning

The perfect vacation is up to debate amongst those who like to travel for vacation, but one essential item seen most frequently at the vacation resort parks for caravans are the awnings that provide shade and a splash of colour to the caravan.

Choosing Your Caravan Awning

Caravan awnings can also be used to add an outdoor room while on vacation. This outdoor room can be another sleeping area or a sitting area, like an outdoor living room. Holiday makers may be having quite the barbeque and need extra dining space out of the sun. The caravan awning is the perfect solution to the needed extra space.

It seems no vacation is complete without at least one day of rain. While you may be stuck at the campsite, you can still enjoy the outdoors with your caravan awning protecting you from the rain. The four designs of awnings are for different purposes. The free standing awning is designed with four covered walls. A leaning porch awning has three covered walls and is the most favoured style. The next two styles are new to the market; they are the sun canopy and the annex design. Sun canopies can be solely to provide shade; annexes are intended to be attached in some form to the awning to increase the space available.

Designers have taken into consideration comfort, ease of assembly and affordability when they created the caravan awnings that will suit the most demanding purchaser. Wide selections of caravan awning are available, ranging from the simpler models for occasional use, to more sturdy varieties that provide extra room and shelter from various weather conditions.

Awnings can be found that just have the screened walls and a canvas floor all the way to being elaborate "room" settings that can be attached to the caravan to give added living area when needed. When determining which model is the best investment for you, consider the conditions your awning will be used in and the season you will be using it. Will you use the awning on an almost daily basis for several weeks or will it be the occasional day at the beach? Once you determine the purpose, you can better select the weight of fabric you will need for your awning and the cost you are willing to invest.

Maintenance will be necessary in order to keep you awning in the best condition possible for the longest amount of time. Check with the manufacturer to determine the proper way to store your awning when it is not in use, how it can be cleaned and what not to use on the fabric.

Colours, styles and functions can all be decided upon at your nearest caravan awning dealership. Your holiday will not be complete without a caravan awning that provides more space, shade and a splash of colour to your vacation. Your family and holiday guests will be amazed at the extra room, comfort and ease of use when you set up your caravan canopy for the next gathering at your favourite holiday spot.

Awnings

An awning is an extension from an attached surface to provide shade, whether is for shading the area on the ground, or preventing unwanted sunlight from getting in your home. They can be permanent, adjustable, and even roll in and out in order to be out of the weather.

Different Kind Of Awnings

They provide protection from the sun's heat, as well as harmful UV, and UVB rays. In many cases, shades can cool down your deck or patio by as much as 20%, and keep the inside cooler even more.

Awnings are made up of three components. One is the frame work, which is usually made from aluminum or light steel. These are strong enough to support the weight of the awning itself, but light enough for recreational vehicles. The actual covering itself can be made from a variety of different materials, but canvas, and plastic are the most common. There are also metal sheeting, and PVC plastics that are used, but these are more commonly found in permanent applications. Then there is the mounting brackets, and rollers. The mounting brackets can be sheet metal screws for securing it to the sides of motor homes and trailers, or anchor bolts for permanent structures. While you do see some permanent awnings mounted on rollers, they are mostly for trailers and recreational vehicles, because they are spring loaded, and easily pulled out and put back for travel. RV uses also include retractable legs which can also be folded up and secured to the side.

There are a variety of awning lengths and widths as well. Small rigid models are ideal for installing over windows to keep the heat out of a room during the day. Some can be as big as 20x40' for patios and decks. For travel vehicles, they are usually long enough to cover the exterior door and windows, and pull out ten to twenty feet. Once set up, there are optional accessories that can convert it to a completely screened off temporary room.

If you are planning on getting an awning, then there are some things you need to do. One of the is measure the length and width of the area you want to cover. Then you need to decide on the materials. Any cover that is for recreational vehicle use should also have an extra protective coating to prevent it from fading too fast. It should also be made from a material that is lightweight such a plastic, or coated fabric. Then there are the costs involved.

While you can pick up a basic awning for under $500, you need to have it installed properly. While many people instal these on their homes themselves, it is a wise idea to have them professionally installed on motor homes and trailers. There are many websites available that have a wide selection of products and accessories for all of your awning needs. It is important to check these out carefully, to compare prices, options, and installation. Shipping, set up and delivery costs should also be a factor in buying an awning. You also need to find out what how long the average warranty is and pick the one with the longest.
